ustanoviteljica, novinarka / Founder, Journalist

Pavla Holcova, the founder of the Czech Centre for Investigative Journalism, has contributed to investigations of organised crime in Serbia and investigated the Macedonian intelligence agency’s investments in Prague, money laundering and companies based in tax havens. She also collaborates with the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) on several projects. Before establishing the investigative journalism centre, she worked for the charity People in Need for six years and collaborated with Sourcefabric, the biggest European developer of open source tools for the media. Holcova has been honoured with the Global Shining Light Award and the EU Award for Investigative Journalism for her work.

Following the murder of Slovak journalist Jan Kuciak earlier this year, Holcova experienced harassment by Slovak police, which confiscated her phone and demanded that she unlock it.
